Sunrise and Blackout Calculator
Pick your city, the time you go to bed and the time you get up. You'll see when the sun comes up and goes down, how many minutes of daylight land on your window while you're asleep, and that number for every night of the year.
If your number is more than zero, the window glass is where the light gets in. Our Blackout Blind covers the glass itself and needs no drill, from $44.99 CAD.

How it works
Sunrise and sunset are worked out right on this page with NOAA's solar equations, the same ones behind the US government's online solar calculator, for the moment the top edge of the sun crosses the horizon. City locations come from GeoNames. Each city uses its own clock rules, including British Columbia, Alberta and Manitoba staying on summer time since March 8, 2026.
It counts sunrise to sunset only. The sky starts getting light before sunrise, and which way your window faces changes how much of that reaches your bed.
